Let’s Make a Mashup: Pro, Twilio & Wolfram|Alpha APIs

A lot can be done with Whitepages Pro APIs. We’ve seen this at numerous hackathons and have heard it from developers. In this post, I’ll take you through a nifty mashup I made of Twilio, Pro and Wolfram|Alpha APIs.

As you may already know, Pro has a strong partnership with Twilio. I’ve talked about applications with Twilio a couple of times before here and here. Today, I want to take you through a new mashup that features Wolfram|Alpha in addition to Twilio.

Here’s how the flow of this mashup breaks down:

1. A call comes in or goes out from a Twilio number
2. Pro returns contact information, including the geo-location associated with the Twilio number
3. Wolfram|Alpha adds in specific demographic information of the city/state based on the returned geo-location from Pro.

At first glance, this is a simple mashup of demographic information of the city/state from where the call is coming in. But if we take it further, we can add very specific insights like the estimate of the house associated with the caller, or even the household income and demographic information from WealthEngine. (Hint: look for upcoming samples in that arena.)

Take a look at the sample and tell me what you think. Are there any other insights we can mash up to build interesting apps for marketers, contact centers or sales teams? Ping me at kshah[at]whitepages[dot]com.
